Soft cocoa-oat bites

Chocolate Balls (Chokladbollar) – Basic Recipe

These no-bake chocolate balls combine buttery oats, cocoa, vanilla, and a splash of coffee for a soft, chewy bite with a deep chocolate flavor. A coconut coating adds a simple, lightly crisp finish. Chill them before serving for the neatest texture.

Ingredients

Method

  1. 01

    Cream the butter and sugar

Work the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture is pale, smooth, and creamy. Scrape the bowl so no dry sugar remains around the edges.

  2. 02

    Make the chocolate-oat dough

Add the vanilla sugar, cocoa, rolled oats, and coffee or water to the creamed mixture. Mix until the ingredients form a cohesive, slightly sticky dough that holds together when pressed.

  3. 03

    Shape and coat the balls

Scoop or pinch off pieces of the dough, roll them between your palms into smooth balls, and coat each one generously in the shredded coconut. Press gently so the coating adheres without flattening the balls.

  4. 04

    Chill the balls

Refrigerate the coated balls until firm and cool. They should hold their shape cleanly when picked up but remain soft enough to bite; serve chilled for the best texture.
